Should I Book a Wedding Band & DJ or DJ Only?
This is totally up to the you but when there are less than 100 guests, most couples go with a DJ only, as the venue tends to be smaller and a 5 or 6-piece band can seem overkill.
Should I Book the DJ Through the Band?
Some bands will recommend a DJ while others will provide a DJ service. Those who provide their own DJ will normally use one of the band members. This will usually be for an hour at the end, while the other members pack away the band equipment. It is rarely very successful and can result in a fizzled-out end to an otherwise perfect day.
I would recommend getting a separate professional DJ who will reignite the party from a fresh perspective. I am happy to recommend several good wedding bands too, but I won't be playing in any of them 😁
How Much is a Wedding DJ?
This depends on what you need. Any of the professional wedding DJs found on a Google search will provide a number of services, such as Ceremony Music, Reception/Cocktail Hour Music, Dinner Music, Full Evening DJ Set or After-band DJ Set. Prices vary but most DJs price according to market demand and if there is a huge difference, there's usually a reason. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
How Far do You Travel?
I am a Galway Wedding DJ and I will travel up to 90 minutes from Milltown in Galway. There are no extra charges for this. For travelling further, there will be a reasonable fee.
How Long Does a Wedding DJ Play For?
I play up to 5 hours for a full evening booking with a 2am curfew and up to 2 hours for an after-band set.
